“Update: its 8 years later and I continue to be impressed with Brant's special magic. There's no one else I would call first when I'm injured. Broke my shoulder skiing in Feb 2024 and it was still bothering me 6 months later. Brant has been instrumental in getting me past the sticky soft tissue healing process.
Brant continues to impress me as we rebuild my body. I highly recommend seeing him for any mechanical body problem.”
MAT®
Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)
What is MAT?
MAT is a unique process designed to identify and correct muscular imbalances that may be causing you pain, tightness and difficulty moving.
Who created MAT?
MAT was created by Greg Roskopf who is the bio-mechanics consultant for the Denver Broncos.
How does MAT work?
MAT uses the following 4 step process.
Range of motion assessment
Muscle testing
Muscular Palpation treatment
Re-check muscle test
Here’s how it works. Let's say that you have pain and limited motion when you try to bend your knee. That clues me in to testing all the muscles that bend/flex your knee. This allows us to determine if weak and/or inhibited knee flexors are indeed the cause of your knee pain and limited motion. So, we muscle test all the knee flexors and in this case we discover that the hamstrings and the gastroc (calf) muscles test weak or inhibited. We would then palpate the muscle/bone attachment sites for your gastroc and hamstrings and then retest. And like magic, I would say 90% of the time, muscles test stronger and range of motion improves.
