“Brant is a miracle worker! When no other doctor, not even specialists at Mt. Sinai could relieve my back and hip pain, he found the source and the rest is history. His “hands on” approach has been life changing. And I’m not alone. He came highly recommended by two friends and I have referred friends who are also now fans!”

MAT®

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)

What is MAT?

MAT is a unique process designed to identify and correct muscular imbalances that may be causing you pain, tightness and difficulty moving.

Who created MAT?

MAT was created by Greg Roskopf who is the bio-mechanics consultant for the Denver Broncos.

How does MAT work?

MAT uses the following 4 step process.

  1. Range of motion assessment

  2. Muscle testing

  3. Muscular Palpation treatment

  4. Re-check muscle test

Here’s how it works. Let's say that you have pain and limited motion when you try to bend your knee. That clues me in to testing all the muscles that bend/flex your knee. This allows us to determine if weak and/or inhibited knee flexors are indeed the cause of your knee pain and limited motion. So, we muscle test all the knee flexors and in this case we discover that the hamstrings and the gastroc (calf) muscles test weak or inhibited. We would then palpate the muscle/bone attachment sites for your gastroc and hamstrings and then retest. And like magic, I would say 90% of the time, muscles test stronger and range of motion improves.
